Priyanka Chopra on representation, mood-boosting beauty rituals!

She's many things. A hugely successful actor who has made the notoriously difficult transition from Bollywood to Hollywood; a wife to one of our generation's most famous musicians (Nick Jonas); a new mother; an activist for social injustices; and a businesswoman who prioritises minority needs. I just thought of those.

To me, Priyanka Chopra was one of the first people I saw on screen, red carpets, and global campaign billboards who looked like me.

Since I know Priyanka so well, I'm not nervous about meeting her over the phone. I'm not talking about her resume or social media posts. She's me and I'm her—two South Asian women in a world that hasn't always seen us.

Priyanka is my big sister. Proud to share heritage, skin, and the desire for women to be considered. That crucial factor drove Priyanka's Max Factor collaboration.

As someone who struggled to find a lipstick that didn't make my brown skin look icy or an eyeshadow pigmented enough to show up on my complexion, this collection of makeup staples that suits every skin tone makes you feel important.

I spoke to the global superstar about her beauty and wellness routines and how the industry is promoting representation.

I ground myself with my evening skincare routine.

It relaxes me before bed. I spend five minutes using my serums and oils, which centres me. If you can brush your teeth, you can give yourself time.

Living in moderation has helped me manage anxiety.

I start the day with a lemon, ginger, and parsley shot because it's detoxifying. But my mental health is my wellness. I exercise because balance is important. My 20s were too chaotic. As I get older, I seek balance, whether it's a walk with my dogs and baby, a moment to myself with a face mask and coffee, oiling my hair, or listening to music at night. Five minutes of self-care can really make a difference.

Red lipstick is always with me.

A great daily tool. It can be high-impact or stain-like, and I sometimes use it on my cheeks for colour.

When I was younger, I had to mix foundation shades and hope for the best.

I had trouble choosing colours as a kid. Shades are improving, but undertones aren't. We tried to do that with this collection. I'm proud of our palette of highly pigmented shades that flatter all skin tones, which I tested on myself and friends and family. Even Max Factor's foundations can match your skin tone. Entertainment and advertising's definition of beauty is what we want to challenge. We've talked about different people, personalities, and skin tones with this collection. Beauty isn't up to us.

I only remove makeup from under my eyes and around my mouth at lunch.

Instead of applying more makeup, I re-moisturize and add a little bit more.
